Apparently should help with bug 851840.
I have created an ebuild for this. Having confirmed the patches with the new archive, they are no longer necessary. I have marked the package as unstable for all platforms - it works here on x86_64, but I am not sure what QA is carried out to make sure it is worthy of being marked stable.
