Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2022-06-08 09:26:07 UTC
16.0 version is in the tree for less than 1 month... but has no many differences over 15.99, that was in the tree for far more time. Also solves some issues with gdm (bug #832861) and looks to work fine for me (this and the older 15.99 versions)

PA 16.0 works for me as well

Please don't CC arches like that so quickly without being in the loop what's going on with an important package like pulseaudio. We need to see about https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/25456 and whether the stable tree is actually ready for the split packages (hope it is by now, but I don't have up to date information offhand)

Comment 4 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2022-06-09 21:11:08 UTC
The split readiness was done in https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/24357 which looks like most of that went in straight revbumps that removed the previous immediately. So probably good on that, Igor can confirm, he was checking through them earlier today.

Pending on the aforementioned USE flag tweaking PR and a small simmering period.

This is a bit urgent as I have at least seen 3 systems over 8 getting up a black screen after rebooting due to pulseaudio-15.0-r3 stabilization

I've now checked the revbumps etc and all stabled. I've also merged a fixup PR from ivor (reduces USE flag confusion, which is what I was worried about before stabling this): https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/25456.

I think we're good to go given the gdm thing, thanks!

    profiles/base: drop pulseaudio forced USE=daemon

It's no longer relevant with the now-stabled split packages.
