Gentoo installation from livecd install-x86-universal-2004.3-r1.iso crashes while unpacking the stage3 file (stage3-x86-2004.3.tar.bz2) probably because the file is corrupted, as the wrong MD5sum suggests. It's a pity I did'nt check the MD5sums before I started the installation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Do exactly as in the installation guide 2. 3.
Are you sure it wasn't something locally?
The livecd file (install-x86-universal-2004.3-r1.iso) was downloaded from the Danish mirror (mirror.uni-c.dk/gentoo) with a correct MD5sum. I have burned two cdroms from that file. On both the MD5sum of the stage file (stage3-x86-2004.3.tar.bz2) does not have the correct value. Further, they even don't have the same MD5sum, and the time to create the MD5sum is very long. The stage file from the directory gentoo/releases/x86/2004.3/stages/x86 has the correct MD5sum.
2005.0 is released now, so this shouldn't be an issue anymore...
