Upon installing an old (known-good) GeForce RTX 2080 Ti into my laptop via an Alienware Graphics Amplifier (also known good), I get a kernel BUG as shown in the to-be-attached dmesg. Hardware works fine under Windows, and the amplifier worked fine with an old GeForce GTX 960 I previously had loaded. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Plug in an Alienware Graphics Amplifier loaded with a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 2. Boot Gentoo, loading the nvidia drivers 3. See kernel BUG. Any attempt to use the hardware puts the machine in an odd state that effectively makes shutdown difficult due to timeouts Actual Results: Kernel BUG as shown in dmesg Expected Results: Should fire up as an additional card

Sounds like an upstream driver issue (and likely hardware-specific) that I doubt Gentoo can do anything about. You may have better luck reporting this to NVIDIA directly instead. May want to check if it works with stable drivers though (470.94). Good to know if it's a regression or a long standing issue.
