After initial system configuration (stage3), I try to extract gnome, fails in xorg-x11, not finding -lfl.

The emerge system detects sys-devel/flex is installed, however /usr/lib/libfl.a is not present. Reemerging the package solves the problem 

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Bootstrap the system from stage 1, using LiveCD2005.0
2. Correct bugs, reemerging net-tools and devfsd
3. emerge gnome


Actual Results:  
x-org11 cannot find -lfl library. Emerge fails

Expected Results:  
x-org11 emerges properly.
