Since a couple of time gpsdrive proxy support was broken. A new patch from Robin Cornelius was applyed in the latest gpsdrive-2.10pre2. If there is proxy support for many users a essential feature, I suggest to use 2.10pre2 as latest (masked) gentoo ebuild.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. export http_proxy environment var
2. open GpsDrive
3. try to download a map

User version 2.10pre2 from http://www.gpsdrive.cc/download.shtml
