This is coming from USE=-gstreamer probably (I didn't download the gzipped log yet, but saw this discussed outside a bug and enabling gstreamer helped then).

Yep, you are right. This indeed helped.

A bug was filed upstream on this: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232394

fix patch at https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232394#c1, tested working with USE=-gstreamer

I confirm that the upstream patch fixes this issue for me.
Comment 8 ashtophet-2 2021-12-07 15:41:59 UTC
I've been hit by the upstream bug too. The patch solves it.

Cheers

Would you like to help solve all the other USE flag combination failures we have pending?

sure, if i had a reasonable hope of having patches accepted. my experience with gentoo is that patches are never accepted expeditiously, and consistently left to rot for years. that doesn't necessarily apply to gnome@, but if it can't keep up with simple version bumps (webkit is frequently slow on security updates), and had absolutely no reaction to my tested-working patch in this bug for three weeks, why should i expect it to review my other patches in a timely manner? i'm not expecting same-day service, but if simple and verified fixes will sit around for months with no reaction whatsoever (positive or negative), count me out.
