Description Sebastian Wramba 2005-02-09 15:41:09 UTC
Hi,

gnome-translate (http://www.nongnu.org/libtranslate/gnome-translate) is a simple but effective frontend for libtranslate (http://www.nongnu.org/libtranslate/ and http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81423).

I'd suggest app-dicts/gnome-translate for this one.

Sebastian

gnome-translate-0.99-r1.ebuild

Add ">=gnome-base/eel-2.6.0" dependency

Why is this in lang-misc? This herd is grouping *programming language* related packages. This one really looks like it might be taken by gnome people.

I'll reassign it to gnome@g.o for now. If gnome people do not want it, please reassign to maintainer-wanted.

George

I can't get gnome-translate working properly. Fails:

$ gnome-translate

(gnome-translate:8273): libglade-WARNING **: could not find widget creation function

(gnome-translate:8273): libglade-WARNING **: could not find widget creation function

(gnome-translate:8273): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'gt_app_window_state_eve nt_h'.

Upstream recomends to build GNOME Translate with the --export-dynamic flag to the linker:

LDFLAGS=-Wl,--export-dynamic ./configure
make
make install

But if I set those LDFLAGS, I end up with:

checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

Please, can someone help?

dev-libs/libtranslate is now in the tree. Maybe Gnome is interested in this?

align ebuild requests to same values

(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug)
'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached
to this bug.
This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the
main tree.

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us.
We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time.

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Jeremy.

gtranslator which is already in tree looks a far more active project since 2005. Hopefully it will fit your needs too.

Note: they're not the same type of program at all; gtranslator is a po file manager (a developer tool).

Oh right, I misunderstood what it does, sorry.
