When starting gdm, orca no longer starts Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: emerge orca and gdm and orca's dependencies like speech-dispatcher and at-spi stack. start gdm1. 2. 3. Actual Results: no speech or Braille output Expected Results: speech and/or Braille output This works correctly with gdm 3.36.4-r1 but not with 40.0 or above and now 3.36.4-r1 has been removed from the tree.

Dang, sorry about that. I don't really know how to test this. Can you tell me how I can test?

hmm, get orca and its dependencies and you should get speech when you run gdm, this does assume you have sound on the computer.

accessibility is set, but orca is not even started when gdm is started, so how did you get this to work at all?
(In reply to John Covici from comment #6) > accessibility is set, but orca is not even started when gdm is started, so > how did you get this to work at all? It gets started and it speaks to me Are you sure you got gdm rebuilt with accessibily USE flag? /usr/share/gdm/greeter/autostart/orca-autostart.desktop does the starting of orca
Well, the autostart file is not executed at all, I put >/var/lib/gdm/orca.txt and the file is unchanged since several years. I guess that is the bug. Anyway to get some debugging here?
I would look at "journalctl -e" output just after restarting gdm Also, what is the output of "emerge -Opv gdm gnome-shell pulseaudio pipewire"?
Created attachment 875713 [details] log of gdm startup complete log of starting gdm. Also, gdm keeps insisting to use tty1 but I have a unit in /etc/systemd/system indicating to start using tty12, but its not working.
(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #9) > Also, what is the output of "emerge -Opv gdm gnome-shell pulseaudio > pipewire"? Can you also show this? Also, I would try to let gdm start in the tty it wants to try to only cover one issue at a time
