/etc/init.d/{checkfs/halt.sh} seem to have some problems when more than 1 md device is autodetected and started by the kernel, and when the root fs is on an md device. I have made the following mods to these scripts which fix things up for me, although I expect there are much more elegant ways of doing this. Hmm.
