I have install gentoo-1.4 and I get to following when trying to do a 'pretend
update world':


root@sr7k:~# emerge -pu world
>>> Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge sync' will probably fix
this.

These are the packages that I would merge, in order.


!!! No profile directory; system mode unavailable.

My solutin is to cd /usr/portage/profiles and execute cp -a default-x86-1.4
default-x86-2.0.

When I execute 'emerge rsync' the /usr/portage/profiles/default-x86-2.0 is
deleted. Perhaps I should change the link if make profile which points to
/usr/portage/profiles/default-x86-2.0

just relink your /etc/make.profile to the 1.4 x86 profile

when i had this happened to me i was 'too bad so sad go relink' ;)
