Description Ludovic Fauvet 2005-01-11 12:45:14 UTC
I've just emerged Kopete 0.8.0 (stable version from portage), I run it, it open the "Configure" window and when I click on the left menu items ("Appearence" or "Behavior") Kopete crash and open KDE bug report.
The output isn't usefull I think:

The console output is more interesting (I think):

libkopete: WARNING: [KopetePlugin* KopetePluginManager::loadPluginInternal(const QString&)] Unable to find a plugin named 'kopete_chatwindow'!
etix@nala etix $ KCrash: Application 'kopete' crashing...

I don't know if it can help but if I click next, it doesn't crash but I can only register for a gadu-gadu account, the others don't appear.

I've try with kernel 2.6.9 and 2.6.10 same problem (fresh install of gentoo from stage 2, system up to date). The problem appears in gnome and Kde.

Thanks ;)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge kopete
2. # kopete
3. Click on any item from the left panel of the configure menu

Actual Results:
It simply crash.

Expected Results:
Don't crash ;) and let me go into submenu.

emerge -C kopete
emerge kdenetwork

Comment 2 Ludovic Fauvet 2005-01-11 13:52:38 UTC
Okay, I think it may work, thank you carlo :)

DEPEND=">=dev-libs/libxml2-2.4.8
        >=dev-libs/libxslt-1.0.7
        >=kde-base/kdenetwork-3.3.0
        <kde-base/kdelibs-3.2"

maybe ?
Comment 3 Ludovic Fauvet 2005-01-12 13:48:12 UTC
Problem not solved, it continue to crash.
Very strange...
Comment 4 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-12 14:52:46 UTC
This tipically happens when trying to run kopete from kde-3.3 in a kde-3.2
session, or if there are stale files in /usr/lib (try
'ls /usr/lib/kde3/*kopete*') (see also bug 61136)

Comment 5 Ludovic Fauvet 2005-01-12 15:50:15 UTC
Yeah! A simple " rm /usr/lib/kde3/*kopete* " and kopete is now starting well.
Thanks for your great help.

Feel free to change the status to resolved :)
