Description Mike Reardon 2005-01-09 12:32:29 UTC
I've recently ran an update after a couple months of not updating at all, and then rebooted the server once all updates were finished. However when the system tried to come back up, I get the following error message whenever any network related rc script runs:

boeing ~ # /etc/init.d/net.eth0 start
 * Starting eth0
/lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/essidnet: line 18: installed: command not found
 * essidnet: missing required function interface_variable
                                                                          [ !! ]

I've tried to find the installed command on some other gentoo machines I have accounts on, but have not been able to find it. Also, none of my other machines seem to have an /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d directory either, so I'm not really sure how to proceed.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. run /etc/init.d/net.eth0 start
2.
3.

Actual Results:
 * Starting eth0
/lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/essidnet: line 18: installed: command not found
 * essidnet: missing required function interface_variable
                                                                          [ !! ]

Expected Results:
Initialized eth0

This is NOT an infrastructure bug, correcting product and component and reassigning to base-system.
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-01-09 13:17:38 UTC
already been fixed in cvs ...

please search bugzilla properly in future:
a search for 'ALL essidnet' shows you this has been solved long since.
