I have glibc-2.33 installed here.
I am using gcc-10.2.1_pre9999 to compile it.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 768000 ***
Comment 2 Ionen Wolkens gentoo-dev 2021-02-12 15:32:43 UTC
Try the suggestion from bug 768000 comment #19, hope I'm not hasty in calling this a duplicate but it looks nearly identical beside dbus.
Comment 3 Ionen Wolkens gentoo-dev 2021-02-12 15:43:26 UTC
Given I see suggestion didn't work, and you're using glibc-2.33 which may be related. I'll leave this separate for now and leave it up to chromium maintainers.
Comment 4 Stephan Hartmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2021-02-12 17:23:26 UTC
Can you merge chromium with FEATURES="nostrip"? We should get much better backtrace.
Comment 5 Ionen Wolkens gentoo-dev 2021-02-12 17:28:43 UTC
On an extra note, I see: ld GNU ld (Gentoo 2.32 p3) 2.32.0
Maybe upgrade to normal binutils 2.35.x as well.

I had several versions of binutils installed here, 2.35.2, as well.
Now I have removed the old versions

Now gdb gives

I think the crash is happening here:
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/refs/heads/master/cc/metrics/compositor_frame_reporting_controller.cc#443

And if I understand correctly the code does not handle that smooth_thread_history_ might be an empty std::map. But only dev channel should be affected, because the code was added mid Jan 2021.
Probably best to do here is to look at https://crbug.com and search for similar issue or open new one. Can you do it and add link to it here?

Many thanks! I have applied your patch to chromium-89.0.4389.47
and this fixed the problem!

Thanks, I try to upstream the patch.

Most web pages load just fine, and Chromium doesn't crash anymore.
But it looks as if it has gotten slower and one page at least doesn't load at all.
I don't know if it related to this patch.
Could you try open

https://lumix-forum.de/

Many thanks,
Helmut

The page loads just fine here, but I'm testing with glibc-2.32. Chromium sandbox is broken with glibc-2.33 and it will take some time until we have a fix for that.

Can one downgrade glibc from 2.33 to 2.32 without problems?
Thanks!
Comment 14 Mike Lothian 2021-02-18 16:26:26 UTC
No, that's can't be easily done

Anything already compiled against the new version would basically be broken if you forced a downgrade

I added:

CHROMIUM_FLAGS=" --no-sandbox"

to:

/etc/chromium/default
