I'm using the kernel 2.6.10 with ALSA support compiled in. Shouldn't this provide virtual/alsa or something? Cause this way if something asks for alsa/virtual, it tries to emerge alsa-driver, which obviously fails cause the kernel already has support for that. any thoughts?
If you installed the kernel by your own, portage does not know .. alsa virtual is there for not set. You could use the workaround there: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel
Yep, our 2.6 kernels do provide virtual/alsa
but I injected development-sources-2.6.10, and I've already noticed that it doesn't provide virtual/alsa... Isn't that a bug? what do you mean by our kernels? *gentoo* ones?
