I tested dry-run patching the namesys patchset for reiser4 on gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r1 and would like to report that it has succeded with no failed hunks whatsoever. I'm including a log for dsd and whomever may wish to see that this patch does work. mm-sources are too unstable for many of gentoo's resier4 userbase and i'm hoping that including reiser4 patches would aid systems with gentoo's stable 2.6 kernel sources including some of my own systems that cannot reliably run mm-sources. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge =gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r1 2. download the reiser4 patch from namesys available at ftp://ftp.namesys.com/pub/reiser4-for-2.6/2.6.10/reiser4-for-2.6.10-1.gz 3.patching suceeds with no failed hunks on either dry-runs or patching Actual Results: Reiser4 patchset succeded patching into gentoo-dev-sources Expected Results: at least a failed hunk? Just one?

Gentoo policy is to keep the kernel as close as possible with the upstream-version (Linus tree). Other requests for inclusion of Reiser4 have been made and all were declined. I think you need to bug the upstream-developers.

On my last check, reiser4 still doesn't work with 4k stacks and still has apparently major issues on arches other than x86. It is not being considered right now.
