QA Notice: /usr/lib/misc/pt_chown is setXid, dynamically linked and using lazy bindings. This combination is generally discouraged. Try: LDFLAGS='-Wl,-z,now' emerge glibc emerge info Portage 2.0.51-r3 (default-linux/ppc/2005.0, gcc-3.4.1, glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r2, 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 ppc) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 ppc 740/750 Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Autoconf: Automake: Binutils: sys-devel/binutils-2.15.90.0.3-r3 Headers: sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1 Libtools: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -mtune=powerpc -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mtune=powerpc -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="alsa bitmap-fonts dvd f77 fortran gif jpeg kde nls nptl pam png ppc qt truetype"
Just as an update: this appears to still be an issue with the newer glibc builds, do we plan on fixing it?
confirmed on glibc-2.3.6-r2
Created attachment 78123 [details, diff] ptchown+sfperm.patch Tested with glibc-2.3.5 makes vanilla compilers shutup when +stricter is enabled. adds sfperms behavior to the suids by default.
Can someone please have a look at this? It doesn't look good if a system package merge dies with "stricter" in FEATURES.
Also occurs with sys-libs/glibc-2.3.6-r4.
Same problem with glibc 2.4-r3
