We could benefit from having 3.9.x in tree as we should test ebuilds on 3.9 nowadays. I don't mind having a go at the patchset(s) if you can let me know what's involved. Or, equally, if it's too much work, say that and we'll leave it. ;)
It is in general a lot of tedious work, in every release they change something that makes the patchesets break. You can have a go at it trying to apply the patches from 3.8.6, but make sure you keep all ebuild modifications as well
Is this about Prefix? I don't think there's any other Alt targets remaining.
(In reply to Michał Górny from comment #2) > Is this about Prefix? I don't think there's any other Alt targets remaining. Whoops, wrong component.

thanks fabian, I filed it to get an ACK from you + to keep track, I hadn't forgotten but got exams for a few weeks -- thanks a bunch for doing it!
oh... well, my life is about maintaining python patchsets ... bleh, so I figured it's best me anyway. Not that I want to discourage you, but it's nasty, and will remain a problem to merge. Luckily we've squashed down the patches to <10 these days.
