With the install of util-linux-2.12i-r1 over 2.12-r4 sfdisk, fdisk, and cfdisk suddenly stopped working to show the partition tables within raid arrays. Running: sfdisk -l /dev/md0 displayed a message of sfdisk: ERROR: sector 0 does not have an msdos signature /dev/md0: unrecognized partition table type No partitions found With similar results from cfdisk and fdisk. The array was fine and I could mount, umount, fsck, raidstop and raidstart without error. Reverting to the older ebuild resulted in the expected output. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge util-linux-2.12i-r1 2. run fdisk -l /dev/md0, note errors. 3. emerge util-linux-2.12-r4 4. run fdisk -l /dev/md0, results are ok. Actual Results: fdisk commands can't access partition tables within raid arrays. Expected Results: should be able to work on raid arrays.
could you test 2.12p please ?

try you try with just CFLAGS="-pipe"
No change with CFLAGS set to only '-pipe' or with no cflags at all.
you could try util-linux-2.12q but i suspect it wont fix anything ...
No, it didn't. Anyone have any other ideas? (Sorry, thought I replied to this sooner).
util-linux-2.13 should fix this
