Are you still having this problem? There have been a lot of changes to the driver and DRM since you first reported this bug in December 2004. The most recent set of  changes occured in 2.6.16-rc1, see http://lwn.net/Articles/167415/ If it works, let us know. If it doesn't work, please post more information (emerge info).
