Well, the existing ebuild works (in general). The dynagraph code of the new version is extremely buggy, so I disabled it (gave up the patching ...) and there is a version change in the deps (media-libs/gd-2.0.33). At last, they had a licence change. kai

Graphviz 2.2 is also out now. Is there a reason the gentoo version of this package is so out of date compared to the rest of portage?
osx team please drop a notice about how graphviz 2.2 could build there.
Created attachment 53964 [details, diff] graphviz-2.2.diff This is the diff of 1.16 to 2.2 that works on ppc-macos. It gets rid of the patch files, but we still need additional configure options. Additionally, dynagraph doesn't work as was mentioned earlier in this bug. This has been tested against gd-2.0.32 since it is stable on all archs.
BTW, my attempts at getting automake to work with this package were futile. You can ignore my automake -a -c -f change since it won't work on ppc-macos anyways. (I don't know why that's in there at all -- it doesn't seem to be necessary)
I had a look at the dynagraph code and seems a monkey work...
eventually in portage

why does this need gd-2.0.33 ? why isnt 2.0.22 sufficient ?
graphviz checks libgd version. if you don't have >=libgd-2.0.33, graphviz uses internal gd library(graphviz-2.2/src/gd/).
