I'm thinking that the test is timing out:

> 1/1 pygobject-test-suite FAIL           37.15s (exit status 1)

(and from the duplicate bug 710118)

> 1/1 pygobject-test-suite                    FAIL    33.71 s (exit status 1)

Whereas the test runs in <10 seconds on my system:
