Description André Terpstra 2004-11-29 00:06:29 UTC
Having installed GRUB 0.94 fine and using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86", I want to upgared to the latest GRUB version. However this is not possible because the emerge failes to complete. The error is something like "The C compiler cannot create output files..." It refers to a file config.log which I will attach.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -u world
2.
3.

Actual Results:
emerge failed

Expected Results:
correct emerge

See also bug #70111. It's the current fix for that that's broken.

Comment 4 André Terpstra 2004-12-01 23:36:00 UTC
Yesterday I give it another try. The world update started with several versions of automake:

1101931346: Started emerge on: Dec 01, 2004 21:02:26
1101931346: *** emerge --fetchonly --update --verbose world
1101931347: >>> emerge (1 of 8) sys-devel/automake-wrapper-1 to /
1101931347: >>> emerge (2 of 8) sys-devel/automake-1.9.3 to /
1101931347: >>> emerge (3 of 8) sys-devel/automake-1.5 to /
1101931347: >>> emerge (4 of 8) sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r2 to /
1101931347: >>> emerge (5 of 8) sys-devel/automake-1.6.3 to /
1101931347: >>> emerge (6 of 8) sys-devel/automake-1.7.9 to /
1101931347: >>> emerge (7 of 8) sys-devel/automake-1.4_p6 to /
1101931347: >>> emerge (8 of 8) sys-boot/grub-0.95.20040823 to /

and now the emerge error message points to automake, see new attachment.
