Description David 2004-11-26 22:36:08 UTC
Was running net-print/cups-1.1.20-r5, app-text/ghostscript-7.07.1-r7, net-print/hpijs-1.5. Have an HP Deskjet 812c and a Pentium 4 system. Wasn't able to print from OpenOffice or lpr of simple text file. Don't print often but seemed to be a fairly recent problem. Trying different drivers for 812c didn't seem to help. Enabled cups debug messaging. Cups error_log seemed fine until renderer lines:

etc.

Googled for:

cups "renderer return value: 139"

and found some links but didn't see an answer.

Downgraded app-text/ghostscript-7.07.1-r7 to the previous app-text/ghostscript-7.07.1-r1 that I had installed. Looks like the active r1 use flags are: +X -cjk +cups -debug. And r7 flags are +X -cjk +cups -debug -emacs +truetype. Printing from OpenOffice and lpr work again downgraded to r1.

Hoping you can determine what broke between r1 and r7 so that future versions will work. Thanks.
