After updating the portage cache with emerge sync I get an error and I can't continue past that point. I tried following the instructions described in "Actual Results" and it didn't fix the problem. I tried with both stage1-x86-selinux-pie-ssp-2004.2 and stage2-x86-selinux-pie-ssp-2004.2. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Finish code listings 1 through 5. 2. Not able to get past code listing 6. Actual Results: !!! 'str' object has no attribute 'insert' !!! 'rm -Rf /usr/portage/profiles; emerge sync' may fix this. If it does !!! not then please report this to bugs.gentoo.org and, if possible, a dev !!! on #gentoo (irc.freenode.org) Expected Results: I should have been able to continue with emerge --fetchonly system or emerge system but I can't until this is fixed. I tried this on a Dual CPU Pentium II system at work with completely different hardware and I even tried it on my removable USB drive at home. This is not a hardware issue. Programs I have running are irrelevant since I have different programs running on the computers listed above.
The new selinux stages available in the /experimental/x86/hardened/stages directory on the mirrors has portage 2.0.51, which fixes this bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 63400 ***
