Description Bruno Laturner Lemes 2004-11-21 14:24:00 UTC
I did a emerge world today with the stable x86 tree(no package.unmask or keywords used) new metacity came in, I etc-updated everything properly, and metacity just crashes whenever I load it.
I have to disable the xorg extensions in xorg.conf and restart X to work properly with metacity. Not a big loss of features.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load Metacity

Actual Results:
Metacity just crashed

Expected Results:
No crashes...

It's not the same bug, xorg doesn't crash. Just metacity that does. It will load for a second and then crash, leaving you without window borders.

Other bugs that I searched came closely to my description but were about unstable ebuilds. The one I'm using is marked as stable and emerged from a official portage server.

Maybe the reason for the crash in both bugs is the same, but it's weird to have the same reason to produce two different results. They're all algorithms after all.

the bottomline of the other bugreport is that we do not consider composite to be stable & disregard problems resulting from it for now.
