To make coldplug + hotplug I suggests adding a stop function to coldplug that maintains the previous behavior.

the stop function is useful especially for system suspend/resume to force device reinit.

if regular stop is too problematic as described in the changelog, can the stop function be added as something call unload ? and let users to call it manually.

No, unloading stuff is not supported _at all_, that is why it was removed
from the script.

It caused too many problems, and there was no reason to be doing it.
