The problem seems to come from this: I can't find file `dehypht-x-2019-04-04.tex According to this: https://github.com/termux/termux-packages/issues/3830 the missing file is in the texlive-langgerman-2019 package. Portage tries to upgrade texlive-basic first and texlive-langgerman only after that. However if I ebuild texlive-langgerman-2019 first, texlive-basic will compile succesfully thereafter.

Attila's solution worked for me with a slight change: I don't have `LINGUAS="de"`, so merging texlive-langenglish-2019 first worked for me as well.
