Because of GLSA 200410-19 / glibc I updated the glibc. Now the sun-jdk does not work anymore. As soon as I downgrade to glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r2 everything is fine again. As the last stable blackdown-jdk is also broken I have no JDK to run java applications on and develop java apps with. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =sun-jdk-1.4.2.06 2. emerge =glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1 3. update your environment in order to use the new jdk 4. run "java -version" (or try to start any java app) Actual Results: root # java -version java version "1.4.2_06" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode) **************** Another exception has been detected while we were handling last error. This has nothing to do with Java or libc. You are both running -mm kernels. Please follow the solution outlined here: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-kernel&m=109770232805733&w=2 Jesse
Thanks for this hint. Will try if a vanilla kernel solves it and report back.
mine problem has been fixed by that solution, thank you
My problem as well; Hopefully it will be part of the next MM release.
