This package contains a driver for Minolta PagePro 12/13xxW printers. Don't know what more to say. I didn't include Cups or Foomatic as dependencies because one can use this driver without Cups.

I think it may be marked stable on amd64 ... and included in portage :-)
Created attachment 72715 [details] an ugly ebuild for the driver & PPD there is a new version available ... btw, the ebuild is very very ugly, especially the part with wgets, but the ebuild HOWTO (http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=2&chap=1) is not very descriptive in the matter of conditional (use-controlled) downloads :-(
Created attachment 72716 [details] the ugly ebuild for the driver & PPD err ... I forgot the foomatic dependency for CUPS
You need to become a developer and maintain some ebuilds or get a developer to add and maintain this.
(In reply to comment #5) > You need to become a developer and maintain some ebuilds unfortunately, I do not have time nor knowledge for this ... > or get a developer to add and maintain this. ok, when a developer passes by, I'll take the lasso and ... :-) - oh wait, I do not have lasso and I haven't seen a developer here for ages anyway ... do you suggest something else?
Created attachment 80753 [details] min12xxw-0.0.9.ebuild new version - added support for 1400W - linuxprinting.org does not like wget, so use empty User-Agent
Created attachment 110176 [details] min12xxw-0.0.9-r1.ebuild The PagePro 1[234]xxW PPDs are now provided by foomatic-filters-ppds so I updated the ebuild to make use of this.
dependency "net-print/foomatic" does not exist. beside that it works for me.
(In reply to comment #9) > dependency "net-print/foomatic" does not exist. thankyou for noticing the change - I wonder how is it possible that my portage does not fail on this?
Created attachment 134415 [details] min12xxw-0.0.9-r2.ebuild updated DEPEND to match current packages
Shouldn't this be WONTFIX or RESOLVED? The ebuild is no longer needed as the driver is in foomatic-filters

argh, the driver is needed even if printing remote over CUPS :-/ (this means re: comment #12 - I really had to install it on another machine *in addition* to foomatic-filters, only then I was able to print remotely on my PagePro 1300W)
(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug) 'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached to this bug. This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy. (In reply to comment #16) > No comments for > 2 years - is anyone still interested in this? I'm still using the printer ... yep, "get all those ebuilds into Sunrise" is on my ToDo longer than desired :-(

[below is the default text, but this ebuild is now already fixed up fine :) ] Are you interested in maintaning this driver directly yourself in the new printer-drivers overlay [1]? If yes, just send me via personal e-mail at dilfridge@gentoo.org a public ssh key [2], so we can give you git push access to the overlay. If you have a gnupg key, you should sign that e-mail [3]. Just a few rules: * Initially, the ebuilds should work for you, and not break anything else. * You enter yourself as maintainer in metadata.xml (together with the printing herd), and are then automatically cc'ed in bug reports on bugzilla. * We will guide you towards improving the ebuilds over the next months so they follow the rules and qa guidelines of the Gentoo main portage tree. In particular this means also using a recent EAPI (3 or perferably 4), and fixing repoman warnings [4]. Don't worry, we'll help you with that. * I hope this is never going to happen, but... ebuilds that "work but go against the guidelines" and do not see any improvement will be removed again one year after initial addition. There are many ways to get help. * You can directly ask me by personal e-mail (my time is limited, but I'll try), * you can ask on freenode, channel #gentoo-dev-help, * you can read the documentation (ebuild howto [5], devmanual [6]), * ... [1] http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/printer-drivers.git;a=summary [2] http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/articles/openssh-key-management-p1.xml [3] http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gnupg-user.xml [4] http://dev.gentoo.org/~zmedico/portage/doc/man/repoman.1.html [5] http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=2 [6] http://devmanual.gentoo.org/
net-print/foomatic-filters-ppds got masked, so the ebuild dependency should be changed to net-print/foomatic-db for cups, as it seems to handle those xmls however, I have no clue how to install the appropriate ppds separately for non-cups systems ... as for me (the last PagePro 1xxxW user? :-)), I wouldn't mind just dropping support for those systems
Is anyone still interested in this?
(In reply to Andreas K. Hüttel from comment #24) > Is anyone still interested in this? yes, my printer still works ... I'm not sure about remaining toner; when it runs out (in a year or two from now?), I'll probably send it to silicone heaven as the drum is getting worn, new color printer will be cheaper than fixing this (if they even still sell a replacement?) p.s. I'm using also HP LaserJet 6L which looks immortal ;-)
