Created attachment 561702 [details] Output from /proc/cpuinfo In order to update my system I had to unmask x11-base/xorg-server-1.19.5-r2. As requested I file a bug. My system has an AMD Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 5050e with built-in graphics Radeon HD3200. I will supply various files for information.

You haven't actually stated your case. Why do you need this particular version?
Aha. I thought it was obvious. I decided to update my system and then portage complained. It suggested to unmask this particular ebuild in order to proceed. Alternatives were not offered at the time so I opted in. Perhaps there are other solutions to this blocker but it seemed instructive to inform Gentoo developers that not only the nVidia driver (as mentioned in the warning message) but also the ATI driver does not match with the latest xorg-server ebuild. Please tell me if I miss something...

Not obvious :) 99% chance this doesn't mean you need 1.19. Please paste the message you saw.
Eh not sure how I can reproduce this :-( But here's my unmask file: # required by x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput-0.28.1::gentoo # required by x11-base/xorg-drivers-1.20::gentoo[input_devices_libinput] # required by x11-base/xorg-server-1.20.3::gentoo[xorg] # required by x11-drivers/xf86-input-keyboard-1.9.0::gentoo # /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask: # Jeroen Roovers <jer@gentoo.org> (14 Dec 2018) # Deprecated short lived branches https://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html # Unsupported legacy branch 304 https://bugs.gentoo.org/669588 # See https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3142 for timelines on # upstream support for various branches. File a bug report if you absolutely # must use one of these ebuilds. # Removal on or about 16 January 2019 =x11-base/xorg-server-1.19.5-r2

Typically xf86-input-libinput is the only input driver people should have. > # /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask: > # Jeroen Roovers <jer@gentoo.org> (14 Dec 2018) > # Deprecated short lived branches https://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html > # Unsupported legacy branch 304 https://bugs.gentoo.org/669588 > # See https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3142 for timelines > on > # upstream support for various branches. Well this is very strange. I did have to unmask that ebuild a few days ago in order to proceed with a world update but somehow it didn't get installed at all or, perhaps more likely, after another update it was removed again. The 1.20.3 version is current now. I removed the unmask file and nothing happened. So I can't reproduce this anymore which implies closing the bug. Something has been going on, but it went away...
