Upstream told me that it would be at least until February for a new 1.4.8 release (and *maybe* 1.5.5 which is the only thing we could use). However, they also said that since 1.5.3 they have been mostly doing fixes, and 1.5.5svn snapshots should be pretty stable (or 'as stable as development release'). So, in accordance with upstream I am going to add the upcoming development snapshot to Gentoo ebuild repo with ~arch keywords.
