Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2018-11-11 12:40:49 UTC
This would need to be killed with pm-utils

Thanks

If nothing happens here this will be cleaned up soon.

I'm surprised you want to remove this package.

AFAIK there is no other power manager for Xfce.
The package is also actively maintained upstream.
Comment 4 Holger Hoffstätte 2020-06-26 19:36:23 UTC
I'm actively using this for my APC UPS and it works great, despite the
fact that I unmerged the pm-utils dependency, faked it via
package.provided and everything still seems to work, comments
#11 and #12 in https://bugs.gentoo.org/659616 notwithstanding
(the exact details might be worth figuring out upstream).

Also I took a look at the upstream repo (on xfce.gitlab.com) and
there are very recent commits, so it's absolutely not dead either.

Please just remove the pm-utils-dependency from the ebuild.

Sorry, the correct domain/link is actually:
https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-power-manager/
Easy to see that there is activity.

I guess we can simply drop the dependency... suspend won't work... but at least the rest should do... it's the route all the other distros have followed :/

I don't know if it would be possible to replace the pm-is-supported call by something more modern

According to bug 722114 it uses logind if available.

I'm going to remove the dep on pm-utils instead.
