Internal compiler error _could_ be a gcc bug, but is most likely a hardware issue.
here's the last part... !!! ERROR: gnome-extra/evolution-data-server-1.0.0 failed. !!! Function gnome2_src_compile, Line 40, Exitcode 2 !!! compile failure !!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.
I haven't been having any other hardware problems, anything in particular I should try testing?
are you using sudo to run emerge, and if so, can you try as root?
I am running it as root.
I gcc-config'ed from gcc-3.4.2-r2 to gcc-3.3.4-r1 and it built fine. That make you lean more towards a gcc bug? Is there any ill effects I can expect from building that with an older gcc?
Nevermind, I unmerged 3.4.2 gcc, paniced when I couldn't get to gcc at all, then gcc-config 1 got me back to life. re emerged the same version of gcc, 3.4.2, and then the builds went fine... until a few packages later when I ran into bug 66959, but that's not really relevant in this space... So this bug is moot, onto the next one, sorry to have wasted your time!
