Description Mikael Hallendal (hallski) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-01-07 02:57:31 UTC
The OpenAFS init-script isn't working properly.

* It doesn't care about CACHEDIR as set in /etc/afs/afs.conf

* It fails to correctly setup the cacheinfo-file (CACHESIZE is set to "")

* The ext2-fs-in-cache-dir test is broken.
  - It needs /usr/vice/cache to be it's own partitation.
  - It should check for ext3 too.

aeoo would you like to have a look at this?

Comment 2 Leo Lipelis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-02-12 23:16:50 UTC
I looked superficially into the problem. While the required changes seem to be
fairly trivial, I think it would be best if someone who actually uses OpenAFS
and knows something about it would fix it. From what I know about OpenAFS I
don't think I will be using it any time soon, because it doesn't solve any
problems for me.

|darks| on irc added this package AFAIK, and he should be maintaining it.

im not doing this one either.

so here we go:1) i can't find a variable CACHEDIR in /etc/afs/afs.conf and i didn't create one cause i wanted all config files not to be modified so that upgrading to a newer version would be easy.2) i need more details on the cacheinfo file bug since it works correctly on 3 different boxes here.3) afs cache dir should always be a separate partition. it checks for ext2 since according to openafs mailing list it won't work with ext3 due to different vinode structures in the kernel. i'm not running any ext3 filesystems here so i can't check that.
