Description keenblade 2004-10-08 16:52:57 UTC
emerge --usepkg grub-static want to get grub-static-0.93.20030118.tbz2
this file is not on the AMD64 2004.2 Universal LiveCD. This makes a networkless installation booting from harddisk impossible.
Work around is to download and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1..Follow AMD64 installation instructions for stage 3 installation with no network connectivity.
2.emerge --usepkg grub-static
3.

Actual Results:
emerge fails and aborts as it tries to get files from a mirror

Expected Results:
emerge should have used local distfiles but the files is not there

Is there a reason that there are FOUR of this exact same bug report?

Dear Jason Huebel,
There is a reason that there are FOUR of this exact same bug report. Because they are not exact same reports. Each of them refers to a different packages which is missing. For example this report is for missing "grub-static". But you have marked it as a duplicate of bug 58178 which is about "python".
Is it supposed to put all different packages that are missing in one bug report or add them as a comment or report them as a separate bug report as I did?
