Description Mark 2004-10-08 04:33:38 UTC
Ive been running gentoo-osx now for about 4 days and done a few
emerge syncs. I have noticed that "Updating Portage cache" takes a
abnormally huge amount of time, in excess of 20 minutes. Running a G4
1Gig with 768M RAM btw.
Thanks

Mark

Things should be better with the new portage. Updaing cache on mac os is slow because it is filesystem-heavy (i believe this is the reason, anyhow). Regardless, it's the nature of running portage on mac os x.

Closing out bugs that've been resolved for a while now...
