Description Alex Murray 2004-10-07 05:06:01 UTC
After upgrading to udev-033, all my devices are missing in Gnome - I have no cd-drive, floppy etc etc...
Downgrading to udev-032 fixes this.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge udev-033 && etc-update
2. Rebooted and logged into Gnome
3. No devices show up under Computer...

Should have mentioned I am using Gnome 2.8 with hal & dbus also.
Comment 2 E Smith 2004-10-07 21:20:21 UTC
same here, no devices or hard drives listed, just the filesystem, using gnome-2.8 + hal + dbus
Comment 3 Alex Murray 2004-10-07 22:18:44 UTC
same again with udev-034..
Comment 4 Peter Johanson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-08 06:51:02 UTC
Greg: Further info. I reverted to 032 again to check things out, and the DEVPATH is not set error messages from hal.hotplug are there as well. However with 032, devices are actually seen by hal, get mounted by gnome-volume-manager, etc.

So red herring there on the DEVPATH error, something else is afoot.
Comment 5 Alex Murray 2004-10-09 19:08:33 UTC
is this related to #66930?
Comment 6 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-09 20:53:44 UTC
Alex, I bet it is.

But I don't see this problem right now, I have the latest udev, and hal and hal-device-manager, and I see all of my devices.

Oh, wait, yeah, if I make that symlink, I do see more stuff.

bah, I'll go fix up the udev package to put these files in the right spot, sorry
about this...
Comment 7 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-09 21:11:35 UTC
Should now be fixed in 034-r1 release.
Comment 8 Alex Murray 2004-10-10 02:32:46 UTC
can confirm this seems to have fixed it - am getting a whole bunch of wait_for_sysfs errors on boot though.. for multiple /class/vc/vsc??
