Did not consider various kicad specific packages which splid models and footprints.

Zoltan: This is precisely the kind of bug I was trying to avoid with my suggestion at https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/9727#issuecomment-417863631

Not everyone will realize that they need to install "kicad-meta" before they spend a considerable amount of time messing around.

amending the kicad entry in the gentoo wiki is ideal method to make known to its users about applicable kicad packages

Better yet make gentoo specific useflags for Kicad enabling auxiliary packages to be installed via useflags.

Otherwise its quite a hassle to installed the 4+ auxiliary packages that kicad was split into.
