Description rob holland (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-05 06:19:20 UTC
Aron,

the test in /etc/net.modules.d/wireless which reports "Looks like there was a problem loading the firmware" breaks ipw2200 support.

Using driver iwconfig ${dev} won't return 'ieee' unless the card is associated with an AP. This is a bit of a nasty loop as the init script is meant to seutp the association :)

Can I suggest you try to find a better way to test this? Also, when I am associated with an AP, iwconfig reports 'ieee' not 'IEEE' which is what you test for.

If you'd like amendments testing please let me know. For now, I've just commented out the test.

This is already fixed in the most recent version of the scripts. I just haven't had time to merge them yet:

wireless module tests type != "NOT READY!" instead of testing = IEEE
this resolves problems with intel and ra-tech drivers

fixed in baselayout-1.11.3
