Name: Virgil Dupras Nick: vdupras Mentor: tamiko Areas of contributions: Virtualization, Embedded Tree access: Yes Virgil is a free software enthusiast who uses Gentoo in his quest to master his computer-related tools. Technology is supposed to free us rather than control us. He also happens to be a professional software developer. Virgil mostly does web development but spends his free time exploring electronics and embedded systems. He has been using Gentoo for 5 years and has been very happy with it. Virgil has already contributed to a wide variety of projects and packages as a proxied-maintainer. But apparently, he grew a bit frustrated with the amount of indirection when it comes to contribute to and to help the Gentoo project as a normal user. That's why we have to make him a developer now I would say :-)
Virgil, please send your revised, and signed quizzes to recruiters@gentoo.org. I'd like to ask you to always leave a short update message on this bug report whenever you do something with respect to recruiting (like sending quizzes to recruiters). Good luck! Matthias
I've sent my signed quizzes to recruiters@gentoo.org just now.
I will be your recruiter. Always add a comment to this bug when you send something to that address. Please contact me by IRC or email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays.
We went through the ebuild quiz with zlogene, the last of 3 sessions being yesterday and I've sent a revised version of my ebuild quiz to recruiters@gentoo.org
I've sent my app-arch/rpm homework at recruiters@g.o
I've sent my revised end quiz and homework at recruiters@g.o.
Hey, that looks like a "dev" badge next to my name right there...
Congratulations!
I've sent what I hope to be the final version of my end quiz and homework to recruiters@g.o

(In reply to Mikle Kolyada from comment #10) > Pending: > - announcement Done, welcome!
As announced on gentoo-core three weeks ago, I'd like to retire. It's not that I don't like the project, I do. I de-prioritize modern technology in my life and being involved with Gentoo (or even using it. I can't really use Gentoo without wanting to fix it :) ) is incompatible with this. Sorry I couldn't be as useful to the project as I envisioned I would when I decided to join. It was fun though, I learned a lot, on a very wide spectrum. As I re-read my opening statement in this ticket "Technology is supposed to free us rather than control us", I think I can say that this retirement is in line with it: I don't think technology can free us now, I'm a luddite.
Oh, I forgot to assign to retirement@g.o
In any case, we're going to wait 15 days in case you change your mind.
