I actually don't use Gnome and don't need it.
Vala is used by valabind which is by radare2-bindings.

I would like you to review this bug.

As I mentioned, vala is required by valabind, and it works the latest version only, see the following link for details:
https://github.com/radare/valabind/issues/47

Please bump vala earlier if possible.

vala 0.40.13 and 0.42.5 are now available in ~arch
