xorg log with no symlinks

Out-of-box xorg installation with VIDEO_CARDS="intel i965" doesn't provide hardware acceleration (glxgears and glxinfo refusing to work).

I don't know how yet, but the problem is solved by comparing /usr/lib64/mesa and /usr/lib64/dri and adding missing symlinks from dri to mesa:

taurus / # cd /usr/lib64/dri
taurus /usr/lib64/dri # ls -l
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 Jan 20 14:35 -> ../mesa/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Jan 20 14:35 -> ../mesa/
taurus /usr/lib64/dri # ls -l ../mesa
total 28216
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 7835984 Jan 20 14:35
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 6604496 Jan 20 14:35
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 7835984 Jan 20 14:35
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 6604496 Jan 20 14:35
taurus /usr/lib64/dri # ln -s ../mesa/
taurus /usr/lib64/dri # ln -s ../mesa/

Maybe these symlinks should've been created there by portage when mesa or xorg-server were installed?

I see you're using the 17.1 profile. This is almost certainly because of bug 486712.
