Created attachment 514452 [details] emerge info having massive hassles with openssl-1.1.0g constantly being pulled in even though it is masked,I've tried installing lower versions,with no success,as what I decide is overridden. Then I get package's failing to compile , can anyone come up with a foolproof way of updating a system without pulling in masked packages,I don't have much hair left.
Comment on attachment 514452 [details] emerge info as an addition python-2.7.14 fails as well its looking for bsddb185 which is not in my portage (bsddb3)
If it fails to compile, then please attach the entire build log to this bug report.

may not be necessary to procede with this ,I have since done an inspection of the /etc/portage dir and corrected some entry's that were maybe causing a loop(destructive). Reinstated the autounmask-keep-masks and the system now appears to be updating .
libssh2 != libssl2
