In /etc/conf.d/net there is no comment about the possibility to set a fallback configuration for an interface, if e.g. dhcp fails. I stumbled across the ifconfig_fallback_NIC variable only when I worked my way through the init scripts themselves. A short mention in /etc/conf.d/net would make life a lot easier.
