Created attachment 512098 [details] A build log The make process for sys-libs/libcap-2.25 eventually calls gcc, which is hardcoded into the makefile. I am experimenting with a gcc-less system, where clang is the native compiler.
Please post also your emerge --info. As a work around you can try setting also "BUILD_CC=clang". As far as I understand, this is really a bug in toolchain-funcs.eclass. When unset, BUILD_CC is supposed to be the same as CC.
