Looks good
Warning: prerequisite Data::Validate::Domain 0.12 not found. We have 0.11.

Reproducible: Always

I noticed this too, but haven't witnessed any ill effects other than the warning. Did you experience any runtime problems? We could always file a stabilization request for dev-perl/Data-Validate-Domain-0.140.0...
Comment 2 Rolf Eike Beer archtester 2017-11-24 17:14:43 UTC
No, looks good to me. But I don't see any reason not to stabilize the newer version either. Feel free to turn this into a stabilization request. I tested the new Data-Validate-Domain today on hppa and sparc and all tests passed.

Targets: amd64 hppa sparc x86

Note, I opted for virtual/perl-Test-Simple-1.302.96 rather than virtual/perl-Test-Simple-1.302.73 because there is no perl-core/Test-Simple-1.302.73.

Since the test stuff is newish, this may have to wait a bit.
Comment 4 Kent Fredric (IRC: kent\n) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-12-08 03:35:59 UTC
This should not be stabilized before Perl 5.26, as it necessitates stabilizing a perl-core/* , and that can seriously confuse portage upgrades.

eg: If perl-core/Test-Simple is installed on Perl 5.24, and then an upgrade to Perl 5.26 makes perl-core/Test-Simple redundant, then by necessity, perl-core/Test-Simple should be uninstalled.

However, the portage resolver has a tendency to see this combination as a blocker to upgrading Perl.

Given Test-Simple is one of *the* most depeneded on packages in Perl, this would almost guarantee widespread problems.
Comment 5 Kent Fredric (IRC: kent\n) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-12-08 03:39:31 UTC
The difference between 0.12 and 0.11 is that 0.12 has support for a trailing explicit "." for representing absolute canonical domain names.

If somebody stumbles onto that behaviour as being necessary, then please point them to this bug :)
