Description Fabien Fivaz 2004-09-12 12:51:41 UTC
When I try to start hotplut with /etc/init.d/hotplug start, the system hangs. I also hangs when running it at boot with rc-update. It seem to crash on PCI hotplugging, since it's the last thing it writes to the screen. The strange thing is that my display goes in standby, than comes back when doing this. I have a Radeon 7200, could it be the problem ? If I run hotplug from a X term, then X switches to a unknowed mode (for my display) then crashes...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. /etc/init.d/hotplug start
2.
3.

Actual Results:
System hangs

Expected Results:
System should work

Then I suggest that you don't enable hotplug from your init scripts.

Just disable it, and any modules that you need loaded at boot time, add to the
modules.autoload file.

Or you can try to determine the module that is getting loaded that is breaking your
box, and remove that one from your kernel.
