Even the oldest (0.10.0) ebuild supports building shared libraries. Since these use dev-libs/boost, upgrading boost breaks packages that use leatherman in ways that sys-apps/portage cannot solve.

fixed in 1.3.0-r1, will go stable in a month unless something else comes up
