Created attachment 497540 [details] dmesg I don't know why udev is not creating /dev/input/mice link to /dev/input/event12 (my mouse device). This causes gpm to fail to start but, before hardcoding the path, I would like to clarify why the link is not being created in one of the machines I admin while still works in others

/dev/input/mice should be a device node created by the kernel, not a symlink managed by udev. % ls -l /dev/input/mice crw-rw---- 1 root input 13, 63 Sep 10 22:53 /dev/input/mice Perhaps you have disabled some kernel option?
It looks like /dev/input/mice is created by the mousedev driver, which is only built if CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSE is enabled in your kernel config.
Created attachment 497584 [details] /proc/config.gz Yeah, I was reviewing kernel options deeply but the node is still missing. I attach the full config, but you can see that I have CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSE=y Should I reassign this to kernel people then? Thanks
My kernel log (4.9.34) has this: Sep 10 22:53:36 localhost kernel: mousedev: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice Your dmesg output does not contain any output from the mousedev driver.
> Should I reassign this to kernel people then? Thanks This is clearly not a systemd bug. I don't think it's a kernel bug either, but rather some configuration issue (different hardware or kernel options).
Maybe they know what option needs to be enabled for this :/
From your config.gz dump: # CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV is not set Try turning that one on. ;)
Thanks! I will try :D
